Palin for President I don't like politics, and I have been a registered independent most of my life, but I am starting to get worried about the possible outcome of this election. I have followed the candidates for nearly a year. Listening, laughing at their silliness, and trying to form an educated opinion about who to vote for. I've been leaning McCain for some time. He has good credentials, I liked his campaign messages in 2000, and he seemed somewhat grounded. I have been concerned about Obama due to his lack of experience, but as I hear him speak, this guy may be the smartest person to run for office in recent times, and he has the ability to motivate the masses. His economic plan get's me excited.
When the VP slection for Obama was made, I felt better about a number of things. Biden is seasoned, tough, and I believe he could run the country if he needed to. When the VP for McCain was made, I thought, "hmm, this might be interesting" But it's not interesting. Weeks have gone by and I am getting depressed with what McCain has done. An honorable man, being manipulated to act dishonorably. Palin has turned out to be a scary prospect. As I researched the facts, I have concluded that she is a hyper ambitious, poorly educated, politically (mainstream) sheltered, religious fanatic. Like most of us in LV, I'm Catholic. I believe in the principles of Christianity. But this woman, who was supposed to appeal to the "BASE" (the evangelicals and the uneducated poor who thrive on drama)is SCARY. Normally I wouldn't care so much about a VP, but a report on CNN last night come out with statistics regarding McCain's health. A 25yr 2 pack a day smoker, McCain is on 7 medications, has had every type (4) of skin cancer, has a 40% probability of dying in office, and a 66% chance of recurring cancer whose treatment will incapacitate him for duties as commander in chief. This means Palin would assume duties as the most powerful leader in the world!!! Here are the facts I have found that concern me: 1 - Palin belonged to a church for 20 years that spoke in tongues, believed in end times, and practiced faith healing 2 - Palin has NO international experience, and very little experience with American politics. Alaska is very different from the mainland. 3 - Palin, just yesterday, used "I told congress thanks, but no thanks" regarding her Bridge to nowhere fiasco. This AFTER she admitted supporting it the Charlie Gibson in an interview a week earlier. She STONE FACED LIED, and she's not even if office. This is my biggest concern right now. I weigh little on the fact that her family lives a hypocritical christian life, and I weigh even less on the fact that she abused her power while in office. Hey, it's Alaska. But the US? NO way. Our economy is horrible thanks to the Bush administration, and Iraq is an International embarrassment (I was a soldier for 8 yrs 88-94). This woman said in a speech that our Soldier in Iraq "are on a task from God." Does this sound like Jihad to anyone? I have made up my mind about this election after doing my research. I hope everyone else does too. Don't vote party lines because you always have in the past. Vote your mind, vote your heart, and let the people reclaim America, and the pride we used to have. Palin for president is downright terrifying. Why oh why didn't McCain choose Romney or Liberman??? |
